It’s always lovely to feel welcome when you go to visit someone. Just like to find a little fruit basket or mini chocolates on your pillow at the hotel – a little welcome basket prepared for a guest is a nice touch.

Last year my sister was over for holidays and it all started with me planning to go and get some basic extras before her visit such as shower gel and toothpaste, but then I thought that it would be much better if I just put a little something like a guest welcome basket together.

First, I went ahead and got a gift set of miniature shower gel and body lotion. It only made sense to also pack a travel sized toothpaste with a toothbrush, deodorant, shower puff, some tissues, makeup removing wipes and vaseline – just your ordinary basics. I’ve made the basket more personal by adding some nail files and nail varnish as I know my sister loves nail art.

I wanted to make the gift basket more fun so I went ahead and purchased a couple of magazines, chocolates, mints and a bottle for water. You can go wild here and just customise the basket to suit your special guest – it’s super easy!
